Healing Without Reliving: How Conny Wladkowski is Transforming Trauma Support with Hypnotherapy

When you've been through trauma or are living with anxiety, it can often feel like you've tried everything - talk therapy, medication, self-help books - yet the weight of it all remains. For Conny Wladkowski, that was her reality too. But everything changed when she found hypnotherapy. Now, not only has she found her own healing, but she’s helping others around the world do the same-without having to relive the pain.

In a recent chat with Trish Pellen, Director of Clinical Hypnosis Australia, Conny shared her story of transformation, the challenges she’s overcome, and why she’s so passionate about showing others that healing is possible.

From Client to Therapist: A Personal Journey

Before becoming a hypnotherapist, Conny struggled with long-term anxiety and unresolved trauma. “I’d been through traditional therapy, taken medication, tried everything,” she said. “Eventually, I hit a wall. I knew I couldn’t live like that anymore.”

Desperate for something different, Conny turned to hypnotherapy - and it changed her life. In a short amount of time, she experienced a shift that years of conventional therapy hadn’t brought. That turning point inspired her to change careers and dedicate her life to helping others with anxiety and trauma - especially those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or misunderstood.

Trauma Work Without Regression

One of the unique aspects of Conny’s approach is her focus on trauma support without regression. That means clients don’t need to revisit or re-experience painful events in order to heal.

“There’s this belief that to heal, you have to talk through everything that’s happened,” Conny explained. “But that constant reliving can actually keep people stuck. I want to give people a way to move forward without having to tell their story over and over again.”

This is especially powerful for people working with therapists online, where the regression approach can feel even riskier or more disconnected. Conny’s goal is to empower both clients and hypnotherapists with safer, more accessible methods.

From Avoidance to Global Stage

When Trish and Conny first met back in 2019, Conny was still finding her footing. “I had just come out of anxiety and was still dealing with low self-worth and no confidence,” Conny shared. “Social settings scared me. I definitely avoided people—even Trish!”

Fast forward a few years, and Conny is now a confident international speaker, educator, and trainer in the field of trauma-informed hypnotherapy. Her journey is a testament to what’s possible when you commit to personal healing and step outside your comfort zone.

Teaching the Therapists

Today, Conny teaches hypnotherapists around the world how to work with trauma clients gently and effectively. She’s passionate about showing practitioners that they can support trauma without retraumatizing - and that clients deserve options beyond traditional talk therapy.

“Some therapists are afraid to work with trauma because they don’t want to do regression. Others just don’t know there’s another way,” she explained. “I want to give them tools that work and make clients feel safe.”

No Trauma is ‘Too Small’

One of the most powerful messages from the conversation was this: trauma is personal. There’s no such thing as “too small” or “not bad enough.”

“I hear it all the time,” Conny said. “People say, ‘Oh, I wasn’t abused - I shouldn’t complain.’ But trauma doesn’t have to be dramatic to be valid. If it’s affecting your life today, it matters.”

Whether it’s childhood neglect, parental divorce, bullying, or a deep loss later in life, every person’s experience is valid. As Conny puts it, “Your trauma is your own. It’s not to be compared.”

Working with Teenagers and Modern Pressures

Conny also works with teenagers, especially since the spike in anxiety following COVID-19 and the rise of social media. Many young people are struggling with pressures previous generations never experienced - and many parents are still trying to understand it all.

“Social media has a huge impact. Teenagers just don’t have the maturity to filter it out. It really affects their self-worth,” she said.

Her work with teens aims to provide relief without judgment - and without needing to rehash painful stories.

A Message of Hope

If you’re feeling like you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked, Conny offers this:

“Don’t give up. You haven’t tried everything. Sometimes it’s not the modality—it’s finding the right approach or the right person to guide you through it.”

With online sessions, aftercare support, and an open-door attitude, Conny is here to help people anywhere in the world take their first—or next—step toward healing.
