Menopause, Midlife, and the Power of Hypnosis – A Conversation with Jaqi Sardo

A Health Background With a Twist

Jaqi brings with her 27 years of experience in healthcare, particularly in gerontology — the study of aging. Working closely with older adults, she noticed a trend that just couldn’t be ignored.

“These women were doing great — thriving — before menopause hit,” she explained. “Then suddenly, they’re being diagnosed with chronic health issues and end up on 10 to 20 medications a day.”

Now, Jaqi isn’t here to bash medicine — far from it. She's clear about the importance of doctors, surgeons, and pharmaceuticals, especially in acute care. But her question is an important one:

What if some of these chronic issues aren’t just a natural part of aging? What if there’s another way to support the mind and body through this life stage — something like hypnosis?

Hypnosis and Hormones – More Connected Than You Think

Jaqi’s work focuses on using clinical hypnotherapy to support women (and men!) as they move through menopause. And yes — you read that right — men too.

“There’s a huge debate in medicine about whether to call it ‘male menopause’ or just stick with ‘midlife crisis,’” she laughed. “But the fact is, men go through hormonal changes too, and it affects their mental health, motivation, and even physical symptoms.”

The conversation turned to the idea of identity — how sometimes chronic health issues become so much a part of someone’s life that even the thought of healing can feel like a threat.

“People hold on to these conditions because they’ve lived with them for so long. It becomes part of who they are,” Jaqi shared. “When we offer a new way forward, it can shake things up — and not everyone is ready for that.”

So, What Can Hypnosis Really Help With?

We talked hot flushes, fibromyalgia, anxiety, brain fog, low motivation, weight gain — all common complaints during and after menopause. Hypnosis has been shown to help with all of these.

“But it’s not just about the symptoms,” Jaqi said. “It’s about the mindset. So much of what we experience in our bodies starts in the mind — in how we think, feel, and react to our changing selves.”

There are clinical studies out there showing the effectiveness of hypnosis — plenty, in fact. But since they’re often small in scale (because individual practitioners fund them, not billion-dollar companies), they’re brushed off as “irrelevant” by mainstream medicine.

And that’s a shame. Because when people come to clinical hypnotherapy, it’s often after they’ve tried everything else. And for many, it’s where they finally find relief.

A Message to the Skeptical

We get it. Hypnosis might sound “out there” to some. But here’s a simple truth: What have you got to lose?

It’s gentle. It’s empowering. It taps into your natural imagination and ability to shift your own state of being — something every human is capable of.

And like Jaqi says, “Let’s stop judging and start exploring. If the goal is to feel better, live well, and take fewer medications — isn’t it worth a try?”

One Last Question…

Before we wrapped up, I asked Jaqi a playful question (because imagination is at the heart of hypnosis):

If you were a flower, what would you be, and what would your purpose be in someone’s life?

She smiled. “Wisteria. Because it’s soothing. You can’t walk past a wisteria tree without feeling peace and harmony. That’s what I want to bring to people.”

Beautiful, right?

If you’re navigating menopause, midlife, or just feeling a little “off” and wondering if there’s more you could do to feel like you again — reach out. Jaqi would love to help. Her details are here , and she’s ready to meet you exactly where you are.
