Meet Juanita Freeman - Meta for Minds
Mastering the Mind Through Metaphor and Hypnosis
At Clinical Hypnosis Australia, I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Juanita Freeman from Meta for Minds to talk about her journey, her work, and why hypnosis plays such a powerful role in creating real and lasting change.
Juanita spent ten years working overseas, in Dubai, before making the decision to bring her work back to Australia. Her intention was clear, to continue supporting people through hypnotherapy with a strong focus on subconscious change.
Why hypnosis creates real change
Hypnosis is where Juanita’s passion truly sits.
The reason is simple. She sees results.
Not always in the moment, but often in the sessions that follow. Clients return noticing subtle but important shifts. They speak differently. They respond differently. Other people in their lives notice the changes before they do. That is often the point where deeper work begins.
Much of our behaviour runs on autopilot. We repeat patterns so automatically that we barely notice them. Hypnosis allows us to bypass the critical mind and work directly with the subconscious, where those patterns live. When awareness arrives, change becomes possible.
The power of suggestion and the subconscious mind
Hypnosis is not just about technique. It is about the power of suggestion.
In a hypnotic state, the subconscious becomes more receptive to new ideas and new ways of being. When suggestions align with what a person genuinely wants to change, those shifts show up in everyday life. Not as force, but as ease.
Juanita explains this beautifully through metaphor and storytelling, which is where the name Meta for Minds comes to life.
When spoken aloud, “Meta for Minds” sounds like metaphor for the mind. This is intentional. The subconscious mind responds to stories and imagery far more effectively than direct commands. Tell someone not to eat chocolate, and suddenly chocolate is all they can think about. Tell a story about health, balance, and choice, and the subconscious listens.
This is how we learned as children. Nursery rhymes, fairy tales, and stories taught us lessons without lecturing us. As adults, we are still wired the same way.
Metaphor, mindset, and awareness
Metaphors also carry another meaning. It is an invitation to think about what you are thinking about.
Juanita speaks openly about how much of her own life was lived on autopilot. She followed patterns without questioning them until she became more conscious and present in her thinking. That awareness created choice. Choice created change.
This is the work she now supports her clients with. Building self awareness, self trust, and self connection. These terms are often used casually, but many people are left wondering what they actually mean or how to achieve them.
The answer always comes back to knowing yourself.
Beyond the roles and labels of parent, partner, professional, or child, there is the self. When we reconnect with that part of who we are, we gain the power to choose differently.
Childhood programming and inner work
One of the most common themes Juanita sees with her clients is childhood programming.
Patterns in relationships, work, success, and self worth often trace back to early experiences. Once those unconscious programs are identified and understood, everything begins to make sense.
Using coaching, neuroscience, and hypnotherapy, Juanita supports clients to explore these early imprints safely. The brain is excellent at protecting us by burying difficult memories. Hypnosis allows access without re traumatising, bringing awareness without overwhelm.
From there, new neural pathways can be created. Old patterns slowly lose their grip as new ways of thinking and being are reinforced. The past does not disappear, but it no longer runs the show.
Inner child work, self discovery, and conscious change sit at the heart of this process.
Lived experience and conscious evolution
Juanita’s work is deeply informed by her own lived experience. Having navigated a challenging childhood herself, she understands the process of self inquiry, responsibility, and conscious evolution.
Rather than blaming the outside world, the work becomes about asking deeper questions. Why does this keep happening? What is this showing me? Who do I want to become instead?
As Carl Jung famously said, until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.
